A picture says a thousands words

My featured image is probably like; “Oh! Vicky was enjoying what she was doing here” or “Vicky smiles a little too much”. Well, that might not be the case here. This is just me ASSASSINATING FEAR!

I accepted Bami’s invitation to Lekki Conservation Center. By the name, I imagined a long walk, chattering monkeys and harmless crawling animals. I was wrong, there was much more; a 401-metre long canopy walkway. The 22.5 feet high Africa’s longest canopy walkway had captured Bami’s heart.  To me; “Nice, I love it but I can’t do it.”  But Bami’s voice came with a fresh breath of optimism “C’mon Vicky, this is an opportunity to overcome your fear”. At that moment, my ‘I can’t‘ tale was hopeless. Mehn!

Back in school, the thought of visiting Nenye gave me heart attack because of the imagination that comes with the view of her balcony. It was just a four storey building.

Height, my arch-villain.

The battle line was drawn. I was determined to conquer it, I closed my eyes and walked slowly. My confidence level was below average, it was almost easy to give up and run back but I had the best people around me. People who never find solace in giving up, people who would recognise your weakness but choose to motivate you, people who would make you laugh right in front of your fear.

The more I laughed, the more I relaxed. The more I relaxed, the more I had fun.

 I was busy fighting with fear that I almost forgot to enjoy the best part; Right before me, nature was displaying its gift.

It is a funny story of how I nearly pooed on myself because of fear but it dissolved the adhesive of an important life lesson.

Reminisce on this;

You wake up with beautiful dreams, perfect dreams of changing the world for good. Then, challenges overwhelm you while ignorance of the power you wield over the challenges blinds you. Thus, you are torn between your dream (idea, vision, ambition) and the wahala of the challenges. A second opinion is however inevitable; What would your friend advise?

To assassinate fear, you may need a backup, IS HE/SHE PESSIMIST OR OPTIMIST?

I quote Roy Bennett; “Distance yourself from negative people who try to lower your motivation and decrease your ambition. Create space for positive people to come into your life. Surround yourself with positive people who believe in your dreams, encourage your ideas, support your ambitions, and bring out the best in you.”

Stay positive!
